MAEF Public Charter Schools collaborated with its parent organization, the Mobile Area Education Foundation (MAEF), in the formation of ACCEL Day and Evening Academy. MAEF has a strong track record of connecting the community to schools, supporting more than 1,200 school/community partnerships. The leadership team met with national experts in the education field, local business leaders, community college leaders, school district leaders, municipal leaders, and community advocates to garner feedback and support for ACCEL, resulting in a school model that is both in line with national best practices and the needs of the local community.

“It has truly been the honor of my career to help co-create this school. Rather than competing with the Mobile County Public School system, the ACCEL Academy offers an innovative alternative to students who haven’t been able to achieve success in traditional classroom settings. They don’t just need a choice. This is fundamentally about giving them a chance.”
